Never The Rose
You aren’t what the world wants.
You’re not the fairest in the land. You don’t draw eyes when you enter a room. You often feel invisible. Maybe you’re good at your craft, your hobbies, your job…but someone is always better. Maybe your best efforts go unnoticed. Maybe you feel ignored. Maybe you’re a scentless bloom in a world that wants only soft petals and perfume.
I think Aesop summed it up best:
“A Rose and an Amaranth blossomed side by side in a garden, and the Amaranth said to her neighbour, "How I envy you your beauty and your sweet scent! No wonder you are such a universal favourite." But the Rose replied with a shade of sadness in her voice, "Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a time: my petals soon wither and fall, and then I die. But your flowers never fade, even if they are cut; for they are everlasting."
Don’t bow to a world that has become numb to the ordinary.
Roses are overrated.
Be an amaranth.
Be a mockingbird.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done any sort of blogging, but I figure it’s time to give it another go. If you’re interested in the unhinged musings of an introverted writer with way too many hobbies and not nearly enough motivation…
I’m starting a newsletter!
